A Few Notes from Wednesday

Dr. Sally Ride spoke at the general session this morning. She was very impressive and personable at the same time. She has a program called Sally Ride Science through which she is encouraging 5th-8th graders to get more involved with science and technology. The photos from the space shuttle that she showed us were amazing!

Sam was presented with an award this morning for the work he did to get the TCEA robotics competition going. He received a nice plaque along with TCEA’s genuine appreciation for initiating what has become a very engaging contest for students from all over Texas. Sam humbly accepted the award by recognizing several others who had helped get the robotics competition started. Definitely a proud moment for all of us from Irving.

I attended a session this morning about Web 2.0. The presenter, Jamey Osborne, did a good job of trying to explain that concept. He broke it down into sections: communication, social networking/sharing, and productivity tools. His list of links is available at del.icio.us/jameyo/web2.0. A couple of them were new to me and seemed interesting. I’ll post more about those once I’ve had a chance to explore them a little.

I’m trying to figure out how to use Blogger on the Go from my phone so that I can start putting up some pictures and short posts… We’ll see how that goes.
